Sculpture
This sculpture is titled "REM." It represents R.E.M., which is the stage of ones' sleep in which dreams are had. This is an entirely interactive sculpture that is intended to give everyone who uses it a unique and completely different answer than it gave the person before them.
It is built to hang on a wall and take up little space in ones' house. Just like R.E.M. takes up little space in ones actual life. The top right corner of the piece is covered in tiny light bulbs that can  be illuminated and make a sort of night light.
The bottom right corner consists of four dangling wisdom teeth and a box below that issues out bits of wisdom. This is meant to represent the hidden knowledge within dreams.
Center left is a childrens story book with two carved holes in the pages where two dolls are perched. There is a mechanism underneath it that moves the dolls up and down and lights two small light bulbs above the book. This represents a more surreal aspect of dreaming. And above the book and dolls there is small conveyer belt that shows off a series of small abstract shapes. This can represent repetition of dreams or dreams that are too abstract to comprehend.
When viewing this sculpture, one is meant to relate it entirely to themselves and try to make sense out of it as if it were their own dream.
